Change at the time of pleasure

We like to live those pleasure moments like when we succeed and something or found love or became certified in a particular skill. At those moments the internal dialogue is justifying to us why we should never think of change, after all things have worked out well and we say “The proof is in the pudding”. Such feelings may be reasonable however just imagine what reality is when for example you just won a competition standing there among applause and flashes of cameras, a thought comes to mind that says something like “Wow! I have made it. I am so happy and proud. However, what can I do differently now to remain as the champion and how do I hold on to this position longest? Any tennis champion will tell you that winning demands hard work, holding onto the number one position demands even harder work, smarter ways and determination. Therefore we need to change even at the time of pleasure and that begins with thinking about change. When contestants win on TV shows like Britain’s Got Talent, the immediate expectations from judges would be “We are looking forward to what more can you show us next time”. Those who succeed in bringing new skills usually win the top places. When you have just become certified in something, take a break and smile big, however ask yourself what can I change next? This creates the thought process early on. Be on guard during pleasure times, the mind may want to pull you to slowing down or become stagnant.
